ERRATA AND OMISSIONS.
PRISONS AND REFORMATORIES BILL.
The following is the text of the House of Assembly’s message of dissent:
Message from the House of Assembly to the Honourable the Senate.—The House of Assembly has concurred in all the amendments with the exception of the amendments in the Dutch version of clause eight to omit “Kroon” and substitute “Staat” and to omit “krooneigendom,” and substitute “staatseigendom,” and has made endorsement accordingly in the copy herewith sent. The House of Assembly regrets that it is unable to agree to the proposed amendments in the Dutch version of clause eight for the reason that the retention of the words “kroon” and “krooneigendom” would not only be in accordance with tradition and precedent, but would also be in agreement with the South Africa Act, 1909, in the Dutch version of which the word “Grown” is rendered as “kroon” in relation to Grown property. The House of Assembly therefore trusts that the Honourable the Senate will not insist upon these amendments.
POWERS AND PRIVILEGES OF PARLIAMENT BILL.
The following is the text of the House of Assembly’s message of dissent:
Message from the House of Assembly to the Honourable the Senate.—The House of Assembly concurs in the amendments with the exception of the following in the Dutch version, viz.: In clause one, lines 6 and 7, to omit “respektievelik” and to substitute “zoals ’t geval moge zijn’’ with consequential alterations throughout the Bill; in clause three, line 54, to omit “bevoegdheden” and to substitute “jurisdiktie als” and after “vereist” to insert “mogen worden.” The House of Assembly is unable to concur in these amendments as the original wording, as passed by this House, conveys the intention of the Bill more clearly than the amended form. The House of Assembly has, for the same reason, made the following amendments upon amendments proposed by the Honourable the Senate, viz.: In the amendments in clause one, lines.26 and 27, respectively, to omit the word “alsdan”; in clause three, lines 35 and 36, to retain the words “van vergrijpen” and to omit the words “bij de pleging van enige van zodanige daden, zaken, of dingen zoals.” The House of Assembly has caused endorsement to be made accordingly in the copy of the Bill herewith sent, and trusts that the Honourable the Senate will agree to the amendments made by the House of Assembly, and will not insist on the amendments disagreed to by this House.
DUTCH REFORMED CHURCHES BILL.
The following is the text of the House of Assembly’s message:
Message from the House of Assembly to the Honourable the Senate.—The House of Assembly has made the following amendment in the English version of clause eleven which is consequential on the amendment made by the Honourable the Senate, viz.: In sub-section (a), line 27, after “include” to insert the “Nederduits Gereformeerde” Churches in the Province of the Cape of Good Hope, Orange Free State, and Natal, and the “Nederduits Hervormde of Gereformeerde Church in the Transvaal and The House of Assembly trusts that the Honourable the Senate will concur in this amendment.
