asked the Minister of Constitutional Development and Planning:

  1. (1) Whether an investigation is being conducted into the possible rezoning of Algoa Park in Port Elizabeth; if so, (a) what is the purpose of this investigation and (b) when is it expected that the results of the investigation will be made known;
  2. (2) whether he will make a statement on the matter?

This information was furnished by the Cape Provincial Government:

Algoa Park is a large existing residential area in Port Elizabeth and no rezoning of the area in terms of the Land Use Planning Ordinance, No 15 of 1985, is therefore being investigated by the Provincial Government of the Cape. The replies to the questions posed are therefore as follows:

  1. (1) No investigation has been instituted by the Provincial Government of the Cape in terms of the Land Use Planning Ordinance, No 15 of 1985, into the possible rezoning of Algoa Park in Port Elizabeth. The Administration is also not aware of any other bodies or organizations which intend to carry out such an investigation, (a) and (b) Fall away.
