- 1. Mr SPEAKER laid upon the Table the Report of the Joint Committee on Provincial Affairs: Transvaal, dated 15 September 1988, as follows:
The Joint Committee on Provincial Affairs: Transvaal, having considered a draft Proclamation seeking to amend the Road Traffic Ordinance, 1966 (Ordinance 21 of 1966), referred to it on 6 September 1988 in terms of Rule 195, begs to report that it has approved the Proclamation. - 2. Mr SPEAKER laid upon the Table the Report of the Joint Committee on Provincial Affairs: Cape Province, dated 16 September 1988, as follows:
The Joint Committee on Provincial Affairs: Cape Province, having considered draft Proclamations seeking to amend the Road Traffic Ordinance, 1966 (Ordinance 21 of 1966), and the Licences Ordinance, 1981 (Ordinance 17 of 1981), referred to it on 26 August 1988 in terms of Rule 195, begs to report that it has approved the Proclamations. - 3. Report of the Joint Committee on Environment Affairs on the Slums Bill [B 120—88 (GA)], dated 19 September 1988, as follows:
The Joint Committee on Environment Affairs, having considered the subject of the Slums Bill [B 120—88 (GA)], referred to it, wishes to report in terms of Rule 147 that as it was unable to reach consensus on the desirability of the Bill, it presents the Bill as referred to it. - 4. Report of the Joint Committee on Constitutional Development on the Free Settlement Areas Bill [B 121—88 (GA)], dated 19 September 1988, as follows:
The Joint Committee on Constitutional Development, having considered the subject of the Free Settlement Areas Bill [B 121—88 (GA)], referred to it, wishes to report in terms of Rule 147 that as it was unable to reach consensus on the desirability of the Bill, it presents the Bill as referred to it. - 5. Report of the Joint Committee on Constitutional Development on the Local Government Affairs in Free Settlement Areas Bill [B 122—88 (GA)], dated 19 September 1988, as follows:
The Joint Committee on Constitutional Development, having considered the subject of the Local Government Affairs in Free Settlement Areas Bill [B 122— 88 (GA)], referred to it, wishes to report in terms of Rule 147 that as it was unable to reach consensus on the desirability of the Bill, it presents the Bill as referred to it. - 6. Report of the Joint Committee on Constitutional Development on the Group Areas Amendment Bill [B 124—88 (GA)], dated 19 September 1988, as follows:
The Joint Committee on Constitutional Development, having considered the subject of the Group Areas Amendment Bill [B 124—88 (GA)], referred to it, wishes to report in terms of Rule 147 that as it was unable to reach consensus on the desirability of the Bill, it presents the Bill as referred to it. - 7. Report of the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Development Aid on the Prevention of Illegal Squatting Amendment Bill [B 123—88 (GA)], dated 21 September 1988, as follows:
The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Development Aid, having considered the subject of the Prevention of Illegal Squatting Amendment Bill [B 123— 88 (GA)], referred to it, wishes to report in terms of Rule 147 that as it was unable to reach consensus on the desirability of the Bill, it presents the Bill as referred to it.
The Committee further wishes to report that the House Committee of the House of Assembly agreed to the desirability of the Bill, while the House Committees of the House of Representatives and the House of Delegates rejected it.
